The “Somerset Golf Captains” Association understands that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your personal data is used. We respect and value the privacy of all of our member and will only collect and use personal data in ways that are described here, and in a way that is consistent with our obligations and your rights under the law.

 For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation, “Somerset Golf Captains” is the Data Controller.

What data we collect

We may collect the following information:

  • Name
  • Contact information such as email address, postal address, telephone numbers
  • Golfing information, such as golf club and handicap

 

How data is collected

Personal data is obtained from one or more of the following:

  • Member’s completing online updates
  • Member’s requests  to play in fixtures
  • Website portal
  • Attendees to match fixtures or meetings hosted by the Somerset Golf Captains
  • Requests for information about events/ matches or annual dinner events offered by Somerset Captains
  • Visits and use of the Somerset Golf Captains website

 

What we do with the data we collect

Personal data may be used to:

  • Process orders, process a request for further information, to maintain records and to provide golf fixture information.
  • Comply with legal requirements
  • Assist third parties to carry out certain activities, such as processing and sorting data, monitoring how members use the website and issuing emails.
  • Seek your views or comments on membership related matters.
  • Notify you of changes to membership information.
  • Send you communications that may be of interest to you about Somerset Golf Captains. These may include information about product updates, newsletters, events, dinners, matches.
  • All marketing communications sent to you by Somerset Golf Captains will provide you with the option to unsubscribe and communication preferences.

 We have identified the lawful basis for the processing of data for the above activities as legitimate interests. The legitimate interest is that of conducting membership activities for that of the Somerset Golf Captains.

We may share your contact details with fellow members.

 

Individuals’ Rights

  • You may request that we restrict the processing of personal data concerning you. Restriction means that we will only store the personal data and not further process it.

  • You have the right to data portability whereby we will provide you (or another data controller where technically feasible) your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  • You have the right to “unsubscribe” from global emails and newsletters

Lodging a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If you feel that your personal data has been, or is being, processed in an inappropriate manner; or you feel that your rights, as described above have been infringed, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The ICO is the UK’s supervisory authority regarding data protection matters and has a responsibility to act on complaints made to it.
